Carlota's Journey is the campaign of the Asociación Cockayne B España (ACBE), based in Mieres (Asturias, Spain), to fund gene therapy for Cockayne syndrome type B. Carlota is 4 and has this ultra-rare genetic disease, which affects one in two million births and has no approved cure. The therapy already works in animal models: the goal is to raise 2 million euros to manufacture it, get through the regulatory process and start the clinical trial.
